4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Administration Guide (T5392-96052, March 2010)

Other server configuration procedures
Delete a server
When a server is deleted, it is removed from the cluster and from all Matrix Server
applications. Applications hosted by the server may be adversely affected by the
server's removal, and any applications that exclusively use the server will be
destroyed. Before deleting a server, be sure to take the appropriate actions:
If the server is primary for a Virtual SQL Server, rehost the Virtual SQL Server to
another node. Also ensure that the server is not a backup for any Virtual SQL
Servers.
If the server is hosting other Matrix Server applications, disable the server and
wait for the applications to move to other servers.
Servers can be deleted on the Matrix-Wide Configuration tab on the Configure Matrix
window. (Select Tools > Configuration Utility to open the Configure Matrix window.)
On the window, select the server and then click Remove Server.
To delete servers from the command line, use this command:
mx server delete <server> ...
Disable a server
Select the server to be disabled from the Servers window on the PolyServe
Management Console, right-click, and select Disable. When you disable a server,
any active virtual hosts and device monitors on the server will become inactive. Those
virtual hosts and device monitors will then fail over to a backup server, if one is
available.
The virtual hosts and device monitors provided by HP PolyServe Software for Windows
File Serving and HP PolyServe Software for Microsoft SQL Server are affected in the
same manner as virtual hosts and device monitors.
To disable servers from the command line, use this command:
mx server disable <server> ..
Enable a server
Select the server to be enabled from the Servers window on the PolyServe
Management Console, right-click, and select Enable.
