4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Administration Guide (T5392-96052, March 2010)

NOTE:
If you are using a wildcard to match the servers in the cluster, the wildcard entry
should appear after any server entries. You can use the move buttons to reorder
the entries as necessary. (For information about wildcards, see the description
of the .matrixrc file in the
HP PolyServe Matrix Server command reference
guide
.)
Reset. This option is useful if you have checked Remember this password on the
Authentication Parameters dialog. If the user name/password information has
changed, clicking Reset allows you to clear the saved user name and password.
When you enter the new password information on the Authentication Parameters
dialog, click Remember this password to update the .matrixrc file with the
new information.
NOTE:
The password information is automatically removed if you get a password failure
when connecting to the cluster.
Use Synchronize Server Bookmarks Automatically to automatically add (or remove)
bookmark entries when you connect to a server that has been bookmarked. The
resulting list of bookmarks matches the list of servers in the cluster to which the
connected server belongs. You can then select the cluster, or any server in the cluster,
for the connection. If the connection attempt fails, Matrix Server will try to make the
connection via another bookmarked server in that cluster.
Using a local machine outside the matrix
On a local machine, the management applications download their rendering and
application logic from the servers in the matrix. To minimize startup time, the
downloaded software is cached on the local machine. The local machine then uses
the software from the cache whenever possible.
When you invoke the PolyServe Management Console or mx commands, by default
the application checks the current software version on the server to which it is being
connected and then downloads the software only if that version is not already in the
local cache. If for some reason the software version running on the server cannot be
identified, the applications use the latest version in the cache.
