4.0.0 HP Polyserve Matrix Server Administration Guide (T5392-96052, March 2010)
A virtual host is inaccessible
If a site is inaccessible but Matrix Server indicates that it is okay, verify that the service
is running and that the actual data exists on the server providing the network interface
currently used by the virtual host.
Matrix Server exits immediately
If the ClusterPulse process exits immediately on starting, first determine whether the
process is running. To do this, check the Services applet in the Control Panel or run
net start on the command line and check for the PolyServe Matrix Server service.
Also check the matrix log, as described under “View event logs” on page 164.
This problem typically occurs because either the hostname is not set properly on the
server or the main Ethernet interface is not installed. To check this, consult the
Networks applet (located in the Control Panel) and the %WINDIR%\system32\
drivers\etc\hosts file.
Built-In NT backup software fails on PSFS volumes
Volume shadow copy is enabled by default in the built-in NT backup software
provided with Windows 2003. The PSFS filesystem does not support volume shadow
copies. If you want to use the NT backup software on a PSFS volume, you will need
to disable volume shadow copy.
Troubleshoot monitor problems
You may encounter the following problems with service and device monitors.
Monitor status
If the monitor status is not reported as Up, check the last error message string and
the last event message string that monitor_agent returned to Matrix Server for
any service or device monitor on any server in the cluster. The error or event message
provides more status information.
