3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software release notes for Linux (AG513-96006, October 2009)
Included tools and utilities
The following tools and utilities are provided to assist with setup and performance tuning:
• SanSurfer (/usr/sbin/SANsurfer). SanSurfer cannot be used to modify the fc_pcitable
file, as noted above. Before opening SanSurfer for the first time, you will need to run the following
command to start the service:
/etc/init.d/qlremote start
• Netperf (/usr/local/bin/netperf).
• Distributed shell: pdsd (/usr/local/bin/pdsh).
• HP Fibre Utils (/opt/hp/hp_fibreutils).
• sysstat (/opt/hp/sysstat-8.0.4.1/sysstat).
• iozone (/usr/sbin/iozone).
NIC driver
The bundled BNX2 NIC driver (with TSO off) is used by default. The tg3 driver is also bundled with
the system. However, HP recommends using the BNX2 driver.
Open issues and workarounds
The following open issues affect HP Scalable NAS and HP FS Option for Linux operations.
HP Scalable NAS
DescriptionDefect
HP Scalable NAS does not shut down applications
When HP Scalable NAS is shut down, it terminates processes that have open files on PSFS
filesystems. To avoid this problem, we recommend that you stop applications that are using
the filesystem before you shut down HP Scalable NAS.
1735
mxconfig should query for HBA when PowerPath is installed
When a HP Scalable NAS installation includes PowerPath, you need to edit the /etc/hpcfs/
fc_pcitable file manually to specify the HBA in use on the server.
See the HBA driver procedures in the HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration
guide for information about editing the file.

Failover can take too long
When the IBM RDAC software is being used, the time required for failover is dependent on
the RDAC software. If failover times are too long, consult the support article PolyServe Data
Management Software — RDAC Installation on www.hp.com.
