QLogic HBA driver options
The QLogic HBA driver options are configured in the /etc/opt/hpcfs/fc_pcitable file. For
information about adding or removing driver options in this file, see the HP Scalable NAS File Serving
Software administration guide. SanSurfer (now included with HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux/HP
Clustered Gateway) or other tools for driver configuration cannot be used to modify this file, as it is
specific to HP Scalable NAS.
Loading and unloading the driver
The QLogic driver is loaded via the HP Scalable NAS /etc/init.d/pmxs load command. This
command uses the /etc/opt/hpcfs/fc_pcitable file to determine the driver to be loaded and
the options to be applied. The driver is unloaded with the /etc/init.d/pmxs unload command.
The modprobe command should not be used, as it does not know about the fc_pcitable file.
HP Device Mapper
HP Device Mapper 4.1.0 is now installed on HP X5500 Storage Gateway for Linux/HP Clustered
Gateway systems for multipathing and failover support. The device mapper provides transparent
failover and failback of I/Os. When the device mapper senses a path failure, it reroutes I/Os
automatically to an alternate path and then routes them back when the path is restored. It also provides
a weighted Round Robin load balancing policy within a path group. When the cluster installation is
complete, you will need to activate Device Mapper. See the following HP web site for release notes
and information about using HP Device Mapper:
