3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software provisioning guide for Oracle HP Scalable NAS (AG513-96013, October 2009)

Administrator will need to define a path in /etc/fstab so that you can maintain
access to these datafiles via other utilities such as cd, mv, and certain other Oracle
utilities such as dbv that do not use the database engine to access files.
Merging Direct NFS client network topology with HP
Scalable NAS
This section shows how HP Scalable NAS and Direct NFS compliment each other to
provide increased reliability and scalability. To understand the benefits of merging
Direct NFS with HP Scalable NAS, consider the situation without either product (see
Figure 8). Here we have a simple server connected to storage exporting a filesystem
using an NFS server supplied by a Linux distributor. We also have a single Oracle
server using a distributor-supplied NFS client. There are many points of failure in this
scenario: the client or the NFS server could fail. The network connection between
the client and server could fail, either by the loss of the network or one of the NIC
connections at the Client or the Server. As more and more clients are added to this
configuration, the NFS server is eventually limited in its ability to support them.
