3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software event notification guide HP Scalable NAS for Linux (AG513-96007, June 2009)
The mxlogd process transmits the event message only one time. If a server is down
at the time of the transmission, the message will not appear in the cluster log on that
server.
View event logs
The cluster log is not intended to be read directly. Instead, use these methods:
• The Cluster Event Viewer. This tool, available on the HP Scalable NAS Manage-
ment Console, shows the messages in the cluster log on a particular server.
• The mx server viewevents command. This command is run from the com-
mand line and allows you to filter the events in the cluster log on the specified
server. You can also limit the events displayed by the command to a particular
time range.
• The HP Scalable NAS mcs select command. This command is also run from
the command line and can display the entire cluster log or only those portions
that you specify.
The Cluster Event Viewer is described in the HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software
administration guide. For information about the mx server viewevents and mcs
select commands, see the HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software command
reference guide.
Event notifier services
HP Scalable NAS provides the following event notifier services:
• SNMP Notifier Service. This service sends SNMP notifications, or traps, to the
configured SNMP targets when the selected events occur.
• Email Notifier Service. This service sends email to specified addresses when the
selected events occur.
• Script Notifier Service. This service allows you to specify a script that will be
triggered when selected events occur.
You will need to configure the services that you want to use with your cluster, including
selecting the events that should trigger the service. For more information, see
“Configure event notifiers and view events” in the HP Scalable NAS File Serving
Software administration guide.
