3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration guide - HP Scalable NAS 3.7 for Linux (AG513-96002, October 2009)

View event logs
The cluster log is not intended to be read directly. Instead, use the Cluster Event
Viewer or the command-line tools provided with HP Scalable NAS. The Cluster Event
Viewer, available on the HP Scalable NAS Management Console, shows the messages
in the cluster log on a particular server. The command-line tools can display the entire
cluster log for a server or only selected events.
For more detailed information about alerts and other important messages, see the
HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software event notification guide.
Event notifier services
You can configure the event notifier services to take specific actions when selected
events occur. The event notifier services are:
SNMP Notifier Service. This service sends SNMP notifications, or traps, to the
configured SNMP targets when the selected events occur.
Email Notifier Service. This service sends email to specified addresses when the
selected events occur.
Script Notifier Service. This service allows you to specify a script that will be
triggered when selected events occur. If you configured notifiers in previous re-
leases of HP Scalable NAS, you can use this service to recreate the notifiers.
You will need to configure the services that you want to use with your cluster. The
event notifier configuration is saved in the mxds datastore and will be included when
you back up the datastore.
HP Scalable NAS MIBs
HP Scalable NAS provides two MIBs that can be loaded into the MIB browser tool
provided with your Network Management Station (NMS). The MIBs are named
mxsnmp.mib and mxtrap.mib and are located in the following directory:
/opt/hpcfs/lib/snmp
Cluster event viewer
The Cluster Event Viewer shows the messages in the cluster log for a particular server.
To open the Viewer, select a server on the Management Console, right-click, and
select View Events.
