1 Quick start checklist
The following information is intended for new HP Scalable NAS installations and
includes typical steps to configure the cluster. It assumes that the installation and
configuration steps described in the HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software installation
guide or HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software setup guide have been completed.
NOTE:
For HP StorageWorks 4400 Scalable NAS systems, see Appendix C, page 417 for
a description of the initial configuration.

Review administrative con-
siderations and restrictions.
Set up administrative networks for HP Scalable NAS:
Specify the networks that you prefer to use for HP Scalable
NAS administrative traffic. You can also disable interfaces for
virtual hosts. See Allow, discourage, or exclude administrative
traffic, page 82.
Configure network inter-
faces.
Create the cluster administrative filesystem:
If you will be using the replication feature or the Performance
Dashboard, create the cluster administrative filesystem. See
Create the administrative filesystem, page 139.
Create the administrative
filesystem if needed.
Prepare PSFS filesystems:
The disks to be used for PSFS filesystems must be imported to
enable the cluster to control access to them. See Import SAN
disks, page 87.
Import disks into the cluster.
