3.7.0 HP StorageWorks HP Scalable NAS File Serving Software administration guide - HP Scalable NAS 3.7 for Linux (AG513-96002, October 2009)
When HP Scalable NAS is started later in the boot process, the FC switch ports are
enabled and HP Scalable NAS attempts to reinitiate the device scanning process in
the hope that the third-party MPIO software will discover and manage the devices.
If the process succeeds, HP Scalable NAS will continue to start as normal.
If the third-party software is unable to discover the target devices during this process,
HP Scalable NAS causes the node to reboot a second time. The goal of the second
reboot is to allow the third-party MPIO software a better chance to discover devices
before any other dependent software starts. If this step is successful, HP Scalable
NAS will continue to start.
If the third-party MPIO software still cannot discover the disk targets, HP Scalable
NAS will fail to start. The administrator must then determine why the MPIO devices
have not been discovered and resolve the issue.
