Script Ordering
ScriptorderingdeterminestheorderinwhichtheStartandStopscripts
arerunwhenaVirtualCIFSServermovesfromonenodetoanother.If
youdonotconfiguretheVirtualFileSharemonitorwithStartandStop
scripts,thescriptorderingconfigurationhasnoeffect.Therearetwo
settings:
SERIALandPARALLEL.
SERIAL.Thisisthedefaultsetting.WhenaVirtualCIFSServermoves
fromonenodetoanother,thefollowingstrictorderingsequencefor
runningStartandStopscriptsisenforced:
1. TheStopscriptisrunonallnodeswherethevirtualhostshouldbe
inactive.
2. ClusterPulsewaitsforallStopscriptsto
complete.
3. TheStartscriptisrunonthenodewherethevirtualhostisbecoming
active.
PARALLEL.ThestrictorderingsequenceforStopandStartscriptsisnot
enforced.ThescriptsruninparallelacrossthematrixasaVirtualCIFS
Serverisintransition.
The
PARALLELconfigurationcan speedupfailovertimeforservicesthat
donotdependonstrictorderingofS tart andStopscripts.Assumingthat
itissafetorunthescriptsinparallel(whichdependsonyour
application),thissettingcanalsoincreasethechancesofasuccessful
failoverbecauseClusterPulsedoesnot
havetowaitforthefailingnodeto
finishrunningitsStopscript.
