Configuration Steps
Performtheconfig urationinthisorder:
CreatePSFSclusterfilesystemstostorethefilesthatwillbesharedvia
CIFS.Foreachfilesystem,youwillneedtoassignadriveletterorpath
thatwillbeusedtoaccessthefilesystem.SeethePolyServeMatrix
ServerAdministrationGuidefordetailsabout
creatingandconfiguring
filesystems.
CreateaVirtualCIFSServer,specifyingaprimarynode.Depending
onyourconfiguration,youmay alsowanttospecifyoneormore
backupnodesforthisVirtualCIFSServer.
•AddVirtualFileSharestothevirtualserver.Besuretocreatethe
VirtualFileSharesonthePolyServe
ManagementConsole;youshould
notuseWindowsapplicationssuchasExplorertodothis.
Whenyouplanyourconfiguration,keepinmindthatallVirtualFile
SharesaddedtoaparticularVirtualCIFSServerareactiveonthenode
wheretheVirtualCIFSServerisactive.Similarly,whentheVirtualCIFS
Serverfailsover,thoseVirtualFileSharesbecomeactiveonthebackup
nodeandwillbe accessedfromthere.
YoumaywanttocreatemultipleVirtualCIFSServerstospreadtheCIFS
activityacrossthematrix,takingadvantageofthescalabilityofthe
PolyServesolution.Remember,anodecansimultaneously
beprimary for
someVirtualCIFSServersandabackupforotherVirtualCIFSServers.
DNS Requirement for Virtual CIFS Servers
ADNSentrymustexistforeachVirtualCIFSServer/IPaddress.The
entrymustincludeanArecordanda[PTR]recordforforwardand
reverselookup.Windowsauthenticationmayfailiftheserecordsdonot
exist.BesuretocreateaDNSentryforeachVirtualCIFSServer/IP
addressthat
youcreate.
