Configure DFS
TheMicrosoftDistributedFileSystem(DFS)canbeusedinconjunction
withHPPolyServeSoftwaretoprovidehighavailabilityfailoverandload
balancingacrossthenodesinthematrix.
NOTE: IfyouareusingWindows2003,theDFSnamespacemustbe
administeredfromwiththeWindows2003versionofthe
administrativetools.Donotusetheadministrativetoolsprovided
withWindows2000tomanageDFS.
Setup Scenario
TheDFSsetupprocedureusesthisscenario:
•Athree‐nodematrixclust[1‐3]inthedomaindata.Thetwodomain
controllersaredc[1‐2].Thesedomaincontrollersarerunning
Windows2000(orhigher)withActiveDirectory.
•MatrixServerandHPPolyServeSoftwareareinstalledonnodes
clust[1‐3]runningWindows2003and
MatrixServerisstarted.
•OntheMatrixServernodesclust[1‐3],asharedPSFSvolume,y:,is
usedforDFSrootandanothersharedPSFSvolume,x:,isusedforthe
link.
•Allclientsneedingtoaccessthesharefooareeitherindomaindataor
inanotherdomainthathas
atrustrelationshipwithdata.
•ClientsareeitherWindows2000andhigher,Windows9xwiththe
DFSclientinstalled,NT4withtheDFSclientinstalled,orotherclients
asdescribedinChapter2.
