Configure the shadow
copy service.
If necessary, give CIFS clients access to hardware
snapshots. See “Using Shadow Copies of Shared
Folders” on page 140.
Prepare for monitoring the matrix
Configure event
notifier services.
The event notifier services (SMTP, email, and
scripts) can be configured to send notifications or
run scripts when specific matrix events occur. See
“Configure Event Notifier Services” on page 161.
Review Applications
tab on the PolyServe
Management
Console.
The Applications tab shows the matrix resources in
a table format and allows you to manage and
monitor them from a single window. See
Applications Overview” on page 172.
Review Performance
Dashboard.
The Dashboard provides performance data for
matrix nodes or the entire matrix. Counters are also
provided for the Microsoft Windows Perfmon
utility. See “Performance Monitoring” on page 183.
Configure application monitoring as necessary
Configure virtual
hosts.
Virtual hosts provide failover protection for servers
and network services. If you will be monitoring
other applications, create virtual hosts as necessary.
See “Add or Modify a Virtual Host” on page 207.
Configure service
monitors.
Matrix Server provides built-in service monitors
such as HTTP and TCP and also allows you to
create your own custom monitors. See “Add or
Modify a Service Monitor” on page 223.
Configure device
monitors.
Matrix Server provides built-in device monitors
such as the SHARED_FILESYSTEM monitor and
also allows you to create your own custom
monitors. See“Add or Modify a Device Monitor
on page 240.
