You can obtain the information needed for an alias on the PolyServe
Management Console.
To create an alias, use the SQL Server Client Network Utility
(C:\winnt\system32\cliconfg.exe). Select the Alias tab and then click Add.
You will need to enter the following information on the Add Network
Library Configuration window.
Server alias: Specify the alias that you want to use for this instance.
Network library: Select TCP/IP.
Connection parameters: Enter the Virtual SQL Server’s fully qualified
name or its IP address as the server name. Then uncheck “Dynamically
determine port” and specify the port number associated with the SQL
instance.
