Install SQL Server Instances

This chapter describes how to install SQL Server 2000 or 2005 instances.

SQL Server Installation Overview

Before starting the installation, you should be aware of the following.

SQL Server and Operating System Support

SQL Server 2000 Support

MxDB for SQL Server can be used with SQL Server 2000 SP4 Standard

and Enterprise Editions (32-bit only). SQL Server 2000 instances can be

installed on the following versions of the operating system:

• Windows 2003 SP1 or SP2, 32-bit

• Windows 2003 R2 (or R2 with SP2), 32-bit or 64-bit

SQL Server 2005 Support

MxDB for SQL Server can be used with SQL Server 2005 Standard and

Enterprise Editions (32-bit and 64-bit). 32-bit and 64-bit SQL Server 2005

instances can be installed on the following versions of the operating

system.

SQL Server Instance Operating System Version

32-bit Windows 2003 SP1 or SP2, 32-bit

Windows 2003 R2 (or R2 with SP2), 32-bit or 64-bit

64-bit Windows 2003 R2 or R2 with SP2, 64-bit
