workloads. PolyServe advises customers to remove any custom setting of
GcTrimLevel after upgrading to Matrix Server 3.6.
Use Existing Instance Aliasing Configuration
If you used the Instance Aliasing feature with a previous release of MxDB
for SQL Server, take the following steps to allow your existing
configuration to be used with the 3.6 release.
1. On the PolyServe Management Console, select Tools > Sql Instance
Aliasing. When the Instance Aliasing dialog appears, click the
Advanced button.
2. On the “Mapping file” section of Advanced Settings dialog, specify
the location of the ia.conf file that you created before the upgrade and
click OK. When the Instance Aliasing dialog reappears, click OK
again. (See “Instance Aliasing” in the MxDB for SQL Server Installation
and Administration Guide for more information.)
The Instance Aliasing feature provided with the 3.6 release will now
manage your connection mappings.
Upgrade the PolyServe Management Console on
Clients
The stand-alone PolyServe Management Console must be upgraded to
version 3.6.0 on any client systems currently running an earlier version of
the console. The stand-alone console cannot be installed on a server
running Matrix Server 3.6. (Matrix Server includes a built-in version of
the PolyServe Management Console.)
Complete these steps:
1. Remove the old version of the console using Add/Remove Programs
on the Control Panel.
2. Install the new version of the console. Locate the file
MxConsole_3.6.0.<xxxx>.msi on the distribution CD or in your
download location. Double-click the file and then run the Installation
Wizard.
