To back up the partitions to a different file, use this command:
mpdump -f <file>
Back Up the Matrix Configuration
The Matrix Server service should not be running when you perform the
backup. The default location for the matrix configuration files is
%Program Files%\PolyServe\MatrixServer\conf on the drive where you
installed Matrix Server. Back up the following from the conf directory:
The files directly under \conf
•The \conf\debug subdirectory
Do not back up the mounts and licenses subdirectories.
Upgrade Scenarios
There are three ways to perform the upgrade to Matrix Server 3.6.0 and
the corresponding version of the PolyServe Solution Packs:
Perform a rolling upgrade. In this procedure, servers are removed
from the matrix, upgraded, and returned to the matrix one-at-a-time.
No downtime is required. See Chapter 2, “Rolling Upgrades” on page
15.
Upgrade all servers at once. This procedure requires that the matrix be
completely shut down during the upgrade. See Chapter 3, “Non-
Rolling Upgrades” on page 24.
Upgrade the servers in two groups. This method minimizes overall
downtime. See Chapter 3, “Non-Rolling Upgrades” on page 24.
The MxDB for SQL Server Upgrade Tool
Before upgrading to the MxDB for SQL Server 3.6.0 release, you will need
to prepare the existing Virtual SQL Servers and Virtual SQL instances for
the upgrade.
New Active-Passive Architecture
In the 3.4 release, MxDB for SQL Server used a Primary-Backup
architecture. For example, when you virtualized a SQL server instance in
