Configure Servers
Before adding a server to a matrix, verify the following:
• The server is connected to the SAN if it will be accessing PSFS
filesystems.
• The server is configured as a fully networked host supporting the
services to be monitored. For example, if you want Matrix Server to
provide failover protection for your Web service, the appropriate Web
server software must be installed and configured on the servers.
•If the hosts file has been modified, it should be consistent with the
DNS.
• The NICs on the servers in the matrix must be both logically and
physically configured and connected to unique subnets per NIC, or
bonded NIC.
Add a New Server to a Matrix
Use the following procedures to add a new server (and, optionally, a new
FibreChannel switch) to an existing matrix.
Add a New FibreChannel Switch
If you are using FibreChannel switch-based fencing and need to add a
new FC switch for use with the new server, take these steps before adding
the server:
1. Stop the Polyserve Matrix Server service on all nodes. (Use the
Microsoft Management Console Services snap-in or the command net
stop matrixserver.)
