Email Notifier Service. This service sends email to specified
addresses when the selected events occur.
Script Notifier Service. This service allows you to specify a script that
will be triggered when selected events occur. If you configured
notifiers in previous releases of Matrix Server, you can use this service
to recreate the notifiers.
You will need to configure the services that you want to use with your
matrix. The event notifier configuration is saved in the mxds datastore
and will be included when you back up the datastore.
Install and Configure the Microsoft SNMP
Service
The Matrix Server SNMP service provides an SNMP extension agent and
MIBs for retrieval of all matrix-wide state and status information. Matrix
Server also provides an SNMP notifier service that can send Matrix
Server events as SNMP traps.
To use the Matrix Server SNMP service, the Microsoft SNMP service must
be installed and configured on all nodes in the matrix. This service is
included in the Microsoft Windows 2003 distribution; however, it is not
automatically installed. To perform the installation, complete these steps:
1. Open the Control Panel and select Add or Remove Programs.
2. Double-click Add/Remove Windows Components. On the Windows
Components Wizard, select Management and Monitoring Tools and
click Details.
3. On the Management and Monitoring window, select Simple Network
Management Protocol and click OK and then click Next on the
following window.
4. Insert the Windows 2003 CD or specify the location of the files. The
Wizard will now install the software.
After the Microsoft SNMP service is installed, you will need to specify a
community string. The public community string is adequate, as the string
is used only for read-only operations. To add a community string,
complete the following steps.
