Configure MxFS for CIFS (optional)

Matrix File Shares are Windows CIFS shares
associated with a MxFS for CIFS health monitor.
For high availability, Matrix File Shares can be
deployed with DFS. See “Configure MxFS for CIFS
with Matrix File Shares” in the MxFS for CIFS
administration guide.
Virtual CIFS Servers provide CIFS access to Virtual
File Shares (virtual CIFS shares) on PSFS
filesystems. See “Configure MxFS for CIFS with
Virtual File Servers” in the MxFS for CIFS
administration guide.
Configure backups
Configure backup
mechanisms.
Prepare to back up Matrix Server, the mxds
datastore, and disk quotas. See “Back Up and
Restore the Matrix Configuration” on page 38.
Prepare for matrix security
Create administrative
roles (optional).
Create roles that allow or deny permission to
perform matrix operations and assign users and
groups to the roles. See “Role-Based Security” on
page 135.
Review the audit log
feature.
Matrix Server provides an audit trail of operations
that change the configuration or state of the matrix.
See “Matrix Server Audit Trail” on page 148.
Prepare for user access
Configure SQL Server
clients (optional).
Configure SQL clients to access Virtual SQL
Servers. See “Configure SQL Clients” in the MxDB
for SQL Server administration guide.
Configure CIFS
clients (optional).
Configure CIFS clients using your normal
procedures.
