Place Databases Under MxDB-Oracle-HiAv
Control
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv includes a demonstration database called PILOT that
you can use to become familiar with the process of placing a database
under MxDB-Oracle-HiAv control and with managing the database via
MxDB-Oracle-HiAv. It is not necessary to configure this demonstration
database. If you already have databases, you can go directly to
“Configure an Existing Database” on page 20.
Create the Demonstration Database
The Configuration GUI is used to create the PILOT demonstration
database. To invoke the GUI, execute the following command from an
xterm session. You must be the Oracle user or a member of group DBA.
# /opt/polyserve/mxdb_oracle_ha/bin/mxdb -c
The Configuration GUI then appears. The GUI has several populated
fields. It uses /etc/oratab to offer known
ORACLE_HOME locations and
uses the calling processes’ UID and GID as the presumed
ORACLE_OWNER and group information.
To create the PILOT database under a given Oracle Home, select or enter
the path to Oracle Home in the Oracle Home field and then open the
Database Name pull down. Select Create Demo Database Service.
