Installation Steps

Before installing Matrix Server, you will need to complete these steps:

1. Install Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS/ES 4, Update 3 or 4.

2. Determine whether the HBA driver should be loaded either during

the initial booting of the kernel or when Matrix Server is started.

3. Modify system files.

4. If necessary, run mkinitrd to build a new initrd image containing the

correct driver modules.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the Operating System

The operating system must be installed on each server that will be in a

matrix. When you perform the installation, do not place any operating-

system files on the SAN disks. To ensure that files are not installed on

these disks, you can either unplug the HBA card from the FC switch or

unplug the SAN connection before starting the installation. After booting

the server on Red Hat Linux, plug the HBA card back into the FC switch

or restore the SAN connection.
