3.5.1 Matrix Server Upgrade Guide

“All-at-Once” Upgrades

This chapter describes how to upgrade all servers at once. The matrix will

be down during the upgrade procedure. “All-at-once” upgrades are

supported from Matrix Server 3.1.2 and 3.5.0.

Upgrade Matrix Software and Install a New

This procedure is intended for sites that will be doing a fresh installation

of the operating system during the upgrade to the 3.5.1 version of Matrix

Server and related products. Note the following:

• The operating system architecture must be the same before and after

the upgrade (either 32-bit or 64-bit).

• Sites currently running SLES9 with Matrix Server and MxFS-Linux

3.1.2 can move to RHEL4 running Matrix Server and MxFS-Linux

3.5.1.

• Moving from RHEL4 to SLES9 is not supported.

To perform the upgrade, complete the following steps on each server:

1. Stop Matrix Server on the server:

# /etc/init.d/pmxs stop

2. Back up the Matrix Server configuration as described under “Back Up

and Restore the Matrix Configuration” on page 3.
