3.5.1 Matrix Server Installation Guide (June 2008)

Chapter 2: Install Matrix Server and MxFS-Linux 19
16. Install Hardware Snapshot Software (Optional)
Hardware snapshots are supported on Engenio storage arrays and
Hewlett-Packard StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) storage
arrays. If you will be using this feature, the following software must be
installed on the servers in the matrix.
Engenio Storage Arrays
To take hardware snapshots on Engenio storage arrays, the latest version
of SANtricity Storage Manager client software must be installed on all
servers in the cluster. Also, the latest version of firmware must be
installed on your storage array controllers. The current version of
SANtricity Storage Manager client software is 9.16, and the latest version
of storage array controller firmware is 6.16. To locate this software and
firmware, contact your Engenio representative.
HP EVA Storage Arrays
To take hardware snapshots or snapclones on Hewlett-Packard
StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) storage arrays, the latest
version of the HP StorageWorks Scripting System Utility (SSSU) must be
installed on all servers in the cluster. Also, the latest version of
CommandView EVA software must be installed on your Management
Appliance. The current media kit version of SSSU is v6.0, and the latest
version of CommandView EVA is 6.0. The SSSU utility must be renamed,
or linked, to /usr/sbin/sssu, and must be executable by all users. To locate
this software, contact your Hewlett-Packard representative.
17. Configure the Matrix
A windowing environment must be installed on the server where you are
running the Management Console. (If you prefer to configure the matrix
from the command line, see Appendix E.)
You will be asked for the following information during the configuration:
The IP address or hostname of each server that will be in the matrix.
The location of your Matrix Server license file.
A secret network key that provides security for network
communications among the matrix servers.
