3.5.1 Matrix Server Installation Guide (June 2008)
Chapter 2: Install Matrix Server and MxFS-Linux 15
8. Install MxFS-Linux (File Serving Utility Only)
Install the MxFS-Linux support RPM from the product CD or the location
where you have downloaded the software.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/mxfs-<os>-support-3.5.1-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
Install MxFS-Linux from the product CD or the location where you have
downloaded the software.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/mxfs-3.5.1-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
When MxFS-Linux is installed, it takes these actions:
• Copies the existing /etc/exports file to /etc/exports.pre_mxfs and then
writes over the original file. You can later convert the copied file into
an Export Group.
• Modifies the values of the following operating system parameters:
– The number of NFS Server threads
is increased to 32.
– The maximum number of outstanding
NFS RPC requests for the
TCP network transport and the UDP transport network is increased
to 128.
The new values are set in the /etc/sysconf/nfs file. (If the file does not
already exist, it will be created.) If a larger value is already configured,
the existing value will not be changed.
9. Install the Quota Tools RPM (Optional)
The quota tools RPM includes several Linux quota commands that have
been modified to work on PSFS filesystems. You can use the modified
commands in place of the commands provided with the Linux
distribution. If you want to use the modified commands, install the quota
tools RPM on each server that will be in the matrix.
# rpm -i <mountpoint>/pmxs-quota-tools-3.13-<xxxx>.<arch>.rpm
10. Specify an HBA Driver If Necessary
Matrix Server includes several versions of the HBA drivers for the
supported FibreChannel host bus adapters. For each host bus adapter,
Matrix Server designates one of these versions as the default. If your
system configuration requires a different driver version (either a version
