Configure Servers
Before adding a server to a matrix, verify the following:
• The server is connected to the SAN if it will be accessing PSFS
filesystems.
• The server is configured as a fully networked host supporting the
services to be monitored. For example, if you want Matrix Server to
provide failover protection for your Web service, the appropriate Web
server software must be installed and configured on the servers.
•If the /etc/hosts file has been modified, it should be consistent with the
DNS.
Add a New Server to a Matrix
Use the following procedures to add a new server (and, optionally, a new
FibreChannel switch) to an existing matrix.
Add a New FibreChannel Switch
If you are using FibreChannel switch-based fencing and need to add a
new FC switch for use with the new server, take these steps before adding
the server:
1. Shut down Matrix Server on all nodes.
# /etc/init.d/pmxs stop
2. Issue the mxconsole command on one node to start the Management
Console. On the Matrix Server Connect window, specify the server,
click the Connect button, and select Configure. If you are prompted
for the user name and password, specify the appropriate values.
