Other Matrix Maintenance

This chapter describes how to maintain the Matrix Server log files and

how to collect them for analysis by PolyServe Technical Support. It also

describes maintenance and troubleshooting procedures for servers and

monitors.

Maintain Log Files

Matrix Server stores its log files in the /var/log/polyserve directory on each

server in the matrix. These log files are typically used to record the

actions of the Matrix Server daemons and agents. The matrix.log log file is

of particular interest and is the log file for the ClusterPulse daemon. You

can use the Management Console to view this log file and to manage its

size.

The matrix.log File

The matrix.log file stores messages from the ClusterPulse daemon. You

can also add your own user-defined messages to this file.

The messages in the matrix.log file are either local or global. Local

messages appear only in the matrix.log file on the server where the

message originated. Global messages are distributed to each server in the

matrix and are written into the matrix.log file on each server.

You can use the Management Console to view or maintain the matrix.log

file on each server. The changes you make affect only the log file for the

server selected on the Servers window.
