MS DTC Not Configured for Windows 2003
When running a distributed transaction against a SQL2000-linked server
on a computer that is running Windows 2003, you may encounter the
following error.
Server: Msg 7391, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider
'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. OLE/DB
provider returned message: New transaction cannot enlist in the
specified transaction coordinator.
This problem occurs because MS DTC is not configured for network
access for new installations of SQL2000 on Windows 2003. To resolve the
problem, complete the following steps:
1. Click Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Component
Services.
2. Expand Component Services and then double-click on Computers.
