Supported SQL Server 2000 Installations
SQL Server 200 instances can be installed on the following versions of the
operating system:
• Windows 2003 SP1 or SP2, 32-bit
•
Windows 2003 R2 (or R2 with SP2), 32-bit or 64-bit
Installation Steps
The installation procedure consists of the following steps:
1. Copy the SQL Server 2000 setup files to a PSFS filesystem.
2. Record an installation file for SQL Server 2000.
3. Install a SQL instance on the appropriate nodes.
4. Copy the files for the SQL Server 2000 Service Pack to a PSFS
filesystem. (The files include an installation file for unattended
installations; you do not need to record the file.)
5. Install Service Pack 3 (or higher) on each SQL instance. Service Pack 4
is required for SQL Server 2000 installations on a 64-bit machine.
6. Install any hotfixes on each SQL instance.
To install additional SQL Server instances, record a new installation file if
desired and then perform steps 3, 5, and 6.
Copy the SQL Server 2000 Setup Files
This procedure copies the SQL Server 2000 setup files to a PSFS filesystem
on shared storage. To begin, start the PolyServe Management Console
and select Matrix > Install SQL. The Install SQL window now appears.
Select a product: Select “MSSQL 2000 Database Engine” from the list.
Select a task: Before installing SQL instances, the SQL Server 2000 setup
files must be copied to a PSFS filesystem. Under step “1. Preparation,”
click on “Copy media to cluster filesystem.”
