Supported SQL Server Versions
MxDB for SQL Server can be used with these versions of SQL Server:
SQL Server 2000 SP4 Standard and Enterprise Editions (32-bit only).
SQL Server 2005 Standard and Enterprise Editions (32-bit and 64-bit).
SQL Server Installation Checklist
The installation procedure consists of the following steps, which are
described in detail following this checklist.
Action Description
Pre-Installation
Determine how to
configure SQL Server.
See “Plan Your SQL Configuration” on page 2.
Verify prerequisites on
each node.
Matrix Server and MxDB for SQL Server are installed.
Microsoft .NET 2.0 framework is installed.
Microsoft Cluster Services (MSCS) is not installed.
SQL Server 2005 Installation
Copy the product files to
a PSFS filesystem.
The product files must be on a local drive. See “Copy the
SQL Server 2005 Product Files” on page 10.
Record a template file. The template file records the unattended installation. See
“Record the Template File” on page 12.
Install a SQL instance. See “Install a SQL Server 2005 Instance on Multiple
Nodes” on page 14.
Install the SQL Server
2005 Service Pack.
Copy the Service Pack file to a PSFS filesystem and then
install the Service Pack. See “Install a SQL Server 2005
Service Pack” on page 16.
Install additional SQL
instances as necessary.
Record a new template file if desired and then install the
instance.
SQL Server 2000 Installation
Copy the setup files to a
PSFS filesystem.
The setup files must be on a local drive. See “Copy the
SQL Server 2000 Setup Files” on page 21.
Record a template file. The template file records the unattended installation. See
“Record the Unattended Installation” on page 23.
Install a SQL instance. See “Install a SQL Server 2000 Instance on Multiple
Nodes” on page 29.
