• The Matrix Server Connect window now allows you to create a
bookmark when you connect to a server. The bookmark is stored in
the .matrixrc file and can include the user name and optionally the
password.
Server bookmarks can be synchronized automatically if desired.
When you connect to a server, this feature automatically creates or
deletes bookmarks to match the list of servers in the matrix to which
the server belongs. If you currently have a .matrixrc file, you may need
to update it to use this feature. See the PolyServe Matrix Server
Administration Guide or the “Connect to a Matrix” online help for
details.
•New mx server markdown command that can be used to tell Matrix
Server that a server is down and does not need to be fenced.
• Support for EqualLogic iSCSI-based storage arrays. Clusters using
these arrays can include up to six nodes.
Matrix Server 3.4.0 also adds support for the following operating system
features:
• Windows 2003 R2 (32-bit and 64-bit versions).
• Windows sparse files API. You will need to enable this feature on
existing PSFS filesystems. New filesystems are created with sparse
files enabled.
•GPT disks.
Implementation Changes in Matrix Server
3.4.0
The following implementation changes have been made in this release:
• The maximum number of partitions on a disk or LUN is now limited
to 31. Disks or LUNs containing a larger number of partitions cannot
be imported into the matrix. If you currently have imported disks or
LUNs with more than 31 partitions, or have created dynamic volumes
using those higher-numbered partitions, the higher-numbered
partitions will continue to work correctly; however, you should be
aware of the following.
