6. Install Emulex HBA API Libraries

This step is needed only if your servers use Emulex HBAs.

The HBA API libraries are provided with the HBAnyware package,

which is included in the HBA driver download. To ensure that the correct

libraries are available for Matrix Server, you will need to install the

HBAnyware package on each server that will be in the matrix.

7. Configure the Storage Array

Perform the initial configuration of the storage array as described in the

product documentation. If you will be using the XIOtech

MAGNITUDE

storage array, see the PolyServe Knowledge Base article “Configure the

XIOtech MAGNITUDE Array” for more information.

8. Install the iSCSI Initiator (iSCSI Configurations

Only)

Install the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator on each server according to the

product documentation.

9. Install Third-Party MPIO Software (Optional)

If you will be using third-party MPIO software, install it according to the

product documentation. Also check MatrixLink, on the PolyServe Web

site, for additional information.

10. Configure FC Switches (FC Fabric

Configurations Only)

When certain problems occur on a server (for example, hardware

problems or the loss of matrix network communications), and the server

ceases to effectively coordinate and communicate with other servers in

the matrix, Matrix Server must remove the server’s access to filesystems

to preserve data integrity. This step is called fencing.
