Guide. CIFS clients then use Windows Explorer to access the shadow
copies.
To enable a CIFS client to use shadow copies, you will need to install the
Shadow Copies of Shared Folders client pack on the CIFS client
workstation. The client pack is provided in the Windows 2003
distribution and can be installed from the following location, where C is
the drive where Windows 2003 is installed:
C:\windows\system32\clients\twclient\x86\twcli32.msi
NOTE: If the CIFS client workstation is running a different version of the
Windows operating system, contact Microsoft to obtain the client
pack.
The client pack adds a “Previous Version” tab to the Windows Explorer
Properties window for the virtual CIFS share. This tab lists the shadow
copies, or previous versions, of the filesystem that are currently available.
Users can select the appropriate version, view the contents, and copy or
restore the needed files.
For more information, see the “Setup for Clients” section of the Microsoft
document “Introduction to Shadow Copies of Shared Folders.” (The
“Setup for Servers” section does not apply to PSFS filesystems.) This
