To create a snapshot from the command line, first run the following
command to determine the options available for the array type on which
the specified volume is located:
mx snapshot showcreateopt <volume>
Then run the following command to create the snapshot:
mx snapshot create [--terse] [<options>] <volume>
The --terse option causes only the name of the snapshot volume to be
printed on success.
Errors During Snapshot Operations
If the snapshot operation could not be completed, errors will be reported
to the matrix log. You will need to review these errors and may need to
delete any partial snapshots by using the Management Appliance.
Delete a Snapshot
Storage arrays typically limit the number of snapshots that can be taken
of a specific filesystem. Before taking an additional snapshot, you will
need to delete an existing snapshot. Also, if you want to destroy a
filesystem, you will first need to delete all snapshots of that filesystem.
To delete a snapshot, select the snapshot on the Management Console,
right-click, and select Delete (or use Edit > Delete).
