If you choose to perform a fresh install of the operating system, extract
the contents of the tar files to /etc/polyserve and /var/polyserve (or /etc/
opt/polyserve and /var/opt/polyserve if upgrading from 3.1.0 or 3.1.1)
before installing Matrix Server 3.1.2.
• Back up all PSFS filesystems for disaster recovery purposes.
Upgrade Scenarios
You can use either of these methods for the upgrade:
• All at once. The matrix is stopped on all nodes and the operating
system and Matrix Server are upgraded. This method requires matrix
downtime for the duration of the upgrade.
• Rolling upgrade. One server is upgraded at a time and is then
returned to the matrix. This method does not require matrix
downtime.
For an “all at once” upgrade, see Chapter 2.
For a rolling upgrade, use the following information to determine the
appropriate procedure for your site.
Rolling Upgrade for 32-Bit OS
If you will be using a 32-bit operating system after the upgrade, use the
appropriate procedure from the following table.
