Configure Servers

Before adding a server to a matrix, verify the following:

• The server is connected to the SAN if it will be accessing PSFS

filesystems.

• The server is configured as a fully networked host supporting the

services to be monitored. For example, if you want Matrix Server to

provide failover protection for your Web service, the appropriate Web

server software must be installed and configured on the servers.

•If the /etc/hosts file has been modified, it should be consistent with the

DNS.

Add a New Server to a Matrix

Use the following procedure to add a new server to an existing matrix.

1. Install Matrix Server. Perform the installation procedure in the

PolyServe Matrix Server Installation Guide up to the step to configure the

matrix.

2. Use the following command to invoke the mxconfig utility:

# mxconfig --import

The --import option allows you to import the initial Matrix Server

configuration defined with mxconfig from an existing matrix server to

the new server. You will be asked to specify the hostname of the server

from which the configuration should be copied.
