MxDB for SQL Server
Instance Aliasing
The Instance Aliasing feature can be used to map your existing legacy
SQL connections to the Virtual SQL Instance connection used with MxDB
for SQL Server. SQL clients can then continue to use the legacy
connection string to access the SQL database in its new location.
Installation
To install the Instance Aliasing feature, double-click on the
InstanceAliasing_1.0.0_<arch>.msi file.
The installation installs the Instance Aliasing feature as an NT service
called SNS PolyServe. The installation also adds a key to the registry and
installs a configuration file, sns.template.conf. You will need to copy this
file to a PSFS filesystem, update the registry key with the location of the
file, and then restart the Instance Aliasing service.
Copy the sns.template.conf File
The sns.template.conf file is installed in the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Polyserve\MatrixServer\conf
You will need to copy this file to a location on a PSFS filesystem that can
be accessed by all nodes in the cluster. All nodes should use the same
driver letter or mount point for the filesystem.
The copied file should be renamed to sns.conf. You will then need to
update the registry with the new location of the file.
