HP StorageWorks All-in-One Storage System Release Notes (5697-6640, September 2007)

HP All-in-O n e Storage System Management
Issue:
HP All-in-One Storage System Management shows critical status due to low disk space on one or
more data disks after conguring storage using All-in-One Storage Manager (AiO600 only)
Description
All-in-One Storage Manager creates logical disks that are only big enough to tthe
iSCSI LUNs hos
ted on the logical disks. Therefore, the used space on the logical
disks is alway
s near 100 percent. HP All-in-One Storage System Management
detects the low di sk space for any logical disk on the All-in-O ne Storage System,
but does not c
urrently lter out logical disks used by All-in-One Storage Manager.
Workaround
Currently the only way to get rid of these warnings is to extend (increase the size
of) the logical disk that is nearly full. HP recommends, however, that you simp ly
ignore these w arnings.
Data Prote
ctor Express
This secti
on describes issues related to HP StorageWorks Data Protector Express running on All-in-One
Storage Systems.
Data Protector Express
Issue:
Changes made to a backup job using Data Protector Express are not always reected in
All-in-One Storage Manager
Description
If you use Data Protector Express to change the backup device associated
with a jo
b, the change is not reected in All-in-One Storage Manager. See
Workaro
und 1.
If you u
se Data Protector Express to change the rotation type associated with
a job, the change may not be reected immediately in All-in-One Storage
Manager. See Workaround 2.
If you use Data Protector Express to change the rotation type associated with
ajobt
o “Custom rotation, the change is not reected in All-in-One Storage
Manag
er. See Workaround 3.
Workaround
Workaround 1—If you wish to change the backup device assigned to a job,
make the change using All-in-One Storage Manager not Data Protector Express.
Workaround 2—If you change the rotation type of a backup job using Data
Protector Express, click Refresh in the All-in-One Storage Manager Actions
pane to see your change reected in All-in-One Storage Manager immediately.
Note, refresh occurs periodically without user intervention.
Workaround 3—You can use Data Protector Express to change the rotation type
of a backup job to “Custom rotation. If you do so however, this change will
not be reected in All-in-One Storage Manager. If you need to use a custom
rotation, HP recommends you continue to use Data Protector Express to make
any further changes to the backup job.
Issue:
Reinstalling Data Protector Express requires additional manual conguration steps
Description
If Data Protector Express is re-installed on an All-in-One Storage System, ther e
are additional manual conguration steps that must be performed. This is not
necessary for a Data Protector Express upgrade, only a re-installation.
NOTE:
The license key used by Data Protector Express on an AiO server may be
seen by selecting Help->Licenses. If Data Protector Express is still installed
make a note of the license key, so it may b e supplied on the reinstall. If you
no longer have the key please contact HP support.
