HP StorageWorks All-in-One Storage System Release Notes (5697-6640, September 2007)

All-in-One Storage Manager
Description
All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) does not check the existing quotas on a
volume before creating quotas for new shares. This can lead to a total quota limit
that exceeds the capacity of the volume. While this can be confusing, it is not
abnormal behavior for quota management.
Workaround
The dirquota command can be used from the command prompt to list the
quotas. If the total quotas results in an over allocation of the volume, use ASM
to adjust the share size (see Increasing or reducing allocated stora ge in the
All-in-One Storage Manager online help).
Issue:
The Storage Allocation page of the Host an Exchange, SQL Server, or User-Dened Application
storage-allocation wizard is blank
Description
This occurs when All-in-One Storage Manager is unable to host the storage for the
application, but no error is shown. This can occur for various reasons, including
when the application server is on a domain, but the All-in-One Storage System is
on a different domain or no domain.
Workaround
Verify the conguration of your application server and All-in-One Storage System
is supported. See HP StorageWorks All-in-One Storage System user guide for
congurations supported.
Issue:
All-in-One Storage manager must use DNS if application server is using DNS
Description
When ava
ilable, All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) resolves IP addresses to a
hostname. If the application server is using a DNS server and the All-in-One
Storag
e System is not, connection related errors can occur. One example of an
err or i
s:
Failed
to get size of path ’G:\Exchange\ms1\ms1 Log’.
Ensur
e path exists and volume is mounted.
Workaround
If the application server is using a D NS server, ensure that the All-in-One Storage
System is also using the DNS server. To verify the network conguration:
1. FromtheAll-in-OneStorageSystem,opentheNetworksConnectionwindow:
a. Select Start > Control Panel to open the control panel.
b. Click Net work Co nnections.
2. Right-click the network interface used to communicate to the application
server and select Properties.
3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Properties.
5. Verify that the DNS entry is correct. If it is not, correct the DNS entry and
then refresh that ASM interface.
To refresh the ASM interface, select Ac tion > Refresh from the ASM menu bar.
Issue:
Exchange, SQL Server, and user-dened application data restored to an alternate location
cannot be d el eted
Description
Thedatacannotbedeletedduetoinsufcient privileges. All iSCSI LUNs
created by All-in-One Storage Manager on a Windows server as part of hosting
Exchange, SQL Server, and user-dened application storage, contain a hidden
system folder called System Volume Information. Thisfolderisbydefaultonly
accessible to the SYSTEM user, and not to the Administrators group. There may
also be other similar folders, such as SIS Common Store, inthecasethatSingle
Instance Storage is enabled on the volume.
