Issues and workarounds Issues and their workarounds have been identified and placed into categories. These categories are: • • • • • All-in-One Storage Manager, page 4 HP All-in-One Storage System Management, page 7 Data Protector Express, page 8 Storage Manager for SANs, page 10 System administration All-in-One Storage Manager This section describes issues related to HP StorageWorks All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) running on All-in-One Storage Systems.
All-in-One Storage Manager Description All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) does not check the existing quotas on a volume before creating quotas for new shares. This can lead to a total quota limit that exceeds the capacity of the volume. While this can be confusing, it is not abnormal behavior for quota management. The dirquota command can be used from the command prompt to list the quotas.
All-in-One Storage Manager Change the privileges as follows: 1. Navigate to the System Volume Information folder in the restored data. 2. Right-click the folder and select Properties. Workaround 3. On the Security tab, add the Administrators group and select Full Control for its permissions. The folder can now be deleted by an administrator. Repeat this process for any other folders that are inaccessible by administrators.
All-in-One Storage Manager Issue: Growing iSCSI LUN fails during heavy SQL Server load Description If a user migrates a SQL Server database to the All-in-One Storage System using All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) and then later attempts to increase the storage space allocated to the database while there is heavy SQL Server usage, an ASM task failure may occur. The failure text is: Failed to grow iSCSI LUN After this failure occurs, ASM will also report that its discovery is failing.
HP All-in-One Storage System Management Issue: HP All-in-One Storage System Management shows critical status due to low disk space on one or more data disks after configuring storage using All-in-One Storage Manager (AiO600 only) Description All-in-One Storage Manager creates logical disks that are only big enough to fit the iSCSI LUNs hosted on the logical disks. Therefore, the used space on the logical disks is always near 100 percent.
Data Protector Express Use the following procedure to re-install Data Protector Express and create an ASMbackup user account. Install Data Protector Express as follows: 1. Double-click the file C:\hpnas\Components\DPX\BB116-10514-DPX-V3.10SP4-25352-WIN-ALL-WEB.EXE 2. When the Data Protector Express installation program opens, click the Install icon. 3. When prompted, accept the default installation location of C:\Program Files\HP. 4. When prompted, select “Create a new Data Protector Express domain”.
Storage Manager for SANs This section describes issues related to Storage Manager for SANs (a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in) running on All-in-One Storage Systems. Storage Manager for SANs Issue: Storage Manager for SANs crashes when used to configure storage (AiO400 only) Description The Storage Manager for SANs MMC snap-in looks for any direct attach storage on your All-in-One Storage System and allows actions such as Create LUN, Extend LUN, and so on.
