Starting HP SmartStart EVA Storage for Linux
To start HP SmartStart EVA Storage for Linux:
1. Insert the HP SmartStart EVA Storage CD for Linux in the CD ROM of the server you want to
configure.
2. Create a mount folder for the disk.
For example, mkdir /mnt/cdrom.
3. Mount the disk.
For example, mount -t iso9660 -o ro /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom.
4. Change the current directory to the application directory.
For example, cd /mnt/cdrom/app.
5. Run the HP SmartStart EVA Storage executable script as follows: ./HPSmartStartEVA
Script name correction
The readme.txt file for HP SmartStart EVA Storage CD for Linux incorrectly refers to the startup
application as ./runApp. The script name is /app/HPSmartStartEVA.
SELinux prevents HP SmartStart EVA Storage from running on Red Hat Enterprise
Server 5.3
With Red Hat Enterprise Server 5.3, you might need to disable SELinux temporarily while using HP
SmartStart EVA Storage . If you attempt to run HP SmartStart EVA Storage, and the application is
unresponsive (for 5 minutes after clicking Next, for example), SELinux may be preventing the execution
of some modules because of un-signed system libraries. Another symptom is a crash reported by
SELinux or the Red Hat Enterprise Server.
If this occurs, temporarily disable SELinux, and then run HP SmartStart EVA Storage. When you are
finished using HP SmartStart EVA Storage, you can enable SELinux.
