SELinux prevents HP SmartStart EVA Storage from running on Red Hat Enterprise
Server 5.3
With Red Hat Enterprise Server 5.3, you might need to disable SELinux temporarily while using HP
SmartStart EVA Storage. If you attempt to run HP SmartStart EVA Storage, and the application is
unresponsive (for 5 minutes after clicking Next, for example), SELinux may be preventing the execution
of some modules because of unsigned system libraries. Another symptom is a crash reported by
SELinux or the Red Hat Enterprise Server.
If this occurs, temporarily disable SELinux, and then run HP SmartStart EVA Storage. When you are
finished using HP SmartStart EVA Storage, you can enable SELinux.
Screen does not display result information
A task can fail to display requested information due to CD load time or a .NET load issue of XSL file.
If a task does not display requested information, for example, a request for HBA information displays
... Checking HBA information ..., but the HBA information does not appear, click Cancel,
and then without quitting HP SmartStart EVA Storage, restart the task.
Install HBA API request
After installing the HBA API, rebooting, and starting HP SmartStart EVA Storage, you see an instruction
to install the HBA API. This is due to an incomplete installation of an fcinfo package.
If this occurs:
1. Insert the HP SmartStart EVA Storage CD for Windows.
2. Under \bin\installers\fcinfo, run the fcinfo for your architecture (note the architecture
x86, amd64, or ia64 in the filename).
3. When the installer starts, select Repair, then reboot the system.
Fibre Channel over Ethernet is not supported
This version of HP SmartStart EVA Storage for Linux and HP EVA support with Linux does not support
FCoE. Do not install FCoE Linux packages.
If you have issues running HP SmartStart EVA Storage for Linux or if HP SmartStart EVA Storage for
Linux crashes, ensure that no FCoE packages are installed.
