HP P6000 SmartStart is a CD-based wizard that you use on your management server to install drivers and to configure HP 4400 Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA4400) storage systems, HP P6300 Enterprise Virtual Array systems, and HP P6500 Enterprise Virtual Array systems. You can also use HP P6000 SmartStart on an application server to provision storage to it. HP P6000 SmartStart also installs the HP P6000 Command View software suite on the management server.
NOTE: HP P6000 SmartStart is supported on Windows 2003, Windows 2003 VMware guest OS, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 VMware guest OS, Windows 2008 R2, Red Hat Enterprise Server 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 SP3, and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 and 11 SP1. A license key is required to use HP P6000 Command View. Separate licenses are required for HP P6000 Business Copy, HP P6000 Continuous Access, and P6000 Dynamic Capacity Management, and thin provisioning.

NOTE: For the P6300/P6500 EVAs, the license keys for HP P6000 Dynamic Capacity Management and thin provisioning are included with the HP P6000 Command View License Entitlement. To use the optional features, you must install each license separately.

• HP VDS Hardware Provider—Use to enable the use of Microsoft virtual disk service (VDS) for the EVA • HBA application program interface (API)—Configure Microsoft HBA API (fcinfo) to interface with the HBA card installed in the server. For more information, see the HP P6000 SmartStart User Guide.
