8 Reports and intermediate updates
Collecting installed versions of data
Creating a database or spreadsheet of your current server or enclosure configurations before and
after an update will help you to audit your systems, or troubleshoot if you run into problems after
an update.
HP SUM includes functions that allow you to create reports automatically from the command line
or the HP SUM GUI. For more information, see the HP Smart Update Manager User's Guide on
the HP SUM documentation website at http://www.hp.com/go/hpsum/documentation.
Intermediate updates required tables
For servers running older versions of Windows or Linux PSP, or firmware, the following tables list
the required versions that must be installed to prevent known critical issues.
Versions of the PSP between these versions might still need to be deployed depending on the server
configurations and latest supported version for a particular server model.
To use the information below, first determine the version of PSP running on a given server. For
instance, if a server is running PSP 7.50, you need to update to PSP 7.60, 7.91, 8.11, 8.30, 8.60
and then 8.70 at a minimum.
NOTE: The official HP policy is only to support updating to a new version that is two versions
newer than the currently installed version.
For servers running older versions of the software and firmware, you will likely need to deploy
multiple updates. Many intermediate updates provide functionality that are required before deploying
the most current software and firmware. The longer you wait to deploy updates, the more
intermediate updates you might have to apply.
