HP Smart Update Best Practices Planning Guide
5 HP firmware and software deliverables
Release sets
Release sets are collections of firmware, software, drivers, and other updates that are released
together. HP SPP and Integrity bundles are two separate deliverables that include firmware sets.
NOTE: HP SUM supports updating firmware only for VMware vSphere targets.
HP Service Pack for ProLiant
SPP is a set of deliverables, including a full ISO and six subset downloads. The full ISO includes
a boot environment, HP SUM, and all available components. Each SPP subset is a zip file that
includes HP SUM and all of the software and firmware smart components required for its specific
audience. HP supports SPP releases for 12 months after the release date, or five SPP releases,
whichever comes first. The subsets are smaller for faster download. The subsets do not contain a
boot environment. The available subsets are:
• BladeSystem Red Hat Enterprise Linux Pack
• BladeSystem SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Pack
• BladeSystem Microsoft Windows Server Pack
• ProLiant ML/DL/SL Red Hat Enterprise Linux Pack
• ProLiant ML/DL/SL SUSE Linux Enterprise Server Pack
• ProLiant ML/DL/SL Microsoft Windows Server Pack
You can download these packs from the SPP Information Library at http://www.hp.com/go/spp/

NOTE: The SPP includes a copy of HP SUM. You can download the latest version of HP SUM
