HP Serviceguard Oracle DataGuard Toolkit User Guide, April 2011
6. The toolkit automates failover of Primary database to Standby database (in a Continentalclusters
environment only) in case of a disaster at the Primary database site and when the Primary
database becomes unavailable.
7. It supports Cluster Verification to identify inconsistencies across the package nodes.
NOTE: The toolkit does not support role transitions. The role transition tasks must be manually
performed. However, once performed, the toolkit detects the new role of the database and monitors
the associated processes. This toolkit supports automatic role transitions only in a Continentalclusters
environment when the primary cluster fails.
Dependencies
The ODG toolkit requires the ECMT Oracle toolkit so that together, they provide high availability
to single-instance ODG.
Similarly, in an RAC environment, the ODG toolkit requires SGeRAC toolkit to provide high
availability to ODG RAC database instances.
NOTE: For information about supportability and compatibility with various versions of Serviceguard
and HP-UX, please refer to the supportability matrix available at http://www.hp.com/go/
