HP Serviceguard Toolkit for Integrity Virtual Servers User Guide (June 2013)

7 Using vswitch manager
Serviceguard IVS toolkit includes the /sbin/init.d/vswitchmgr script that monitors and
reconfigures the vswitch during the physical networking link failover. The log messages related to
the vswitch manager are available in the syslog.log file.
After you install IVS toolkit, the vswitchmgr script is added to the system startup sequence as
follows:
/sbin/rc2.d/K004vswitchmgr
/sbin/rc3.d/S802vswitchmgr
The vswitch manager starts automatically during the following scenarios:
HP-UX server startup—The script starts only if the HPVM, or vPar package exists.
HPVM or vPar package startup—The script starts if the vswitch manager is not running, or
restarts if vswitch manager is already running.
After startup, the vswitch manager creates the vswitchmgr.pid file in the /tmp/ directory.
CAUTION: Do not use the /sbin/init.d/vswitchmgr start command when the vswitch
manager is already in a running condition.
NOTE: If you reconfigure vswitch or the Serviceguard’s bridge, you must use the
/sbin/init.d/vswitchmgr restart command to restart the vswitch manager.
The vswitch manager exits with a message during the following scenarios:
vswitch is not configured.
nl
Info: No vswitch has been configured
Primary-Standby LAN pairs are not associated with the configured vswitch.
nl
Info: No primary-standby LAN pairs found
During monitoring, the vswitch manager logs the following message for a LAN failover:
Info: Detected LAN failover from:<<from-lan-id>> to: <<to-lan-id>>
