Configuring Arrays for Storage Mapping and Statistics
Configuring Arrays for Storage Mapping and Statistics
SFRAC provides “deep” mapping information and performance statistics for supported
storage arrays. Deep mapping involves identifying the physical disks comprising each
LUN and hardware RAID information for the LUNs.
Note Deep mapping requires Oracle 9.2.0.3. or a later version.
VERITAS Array Integration Layer (VAIL) software interfaces third-party hardware
storage arrays with VERITAS storage software. VAIL providers are software modules that
enable VERITAS applications to discover, query, and manage third-party storage arrays.
The vx_emc_symmetrix provider manages EMC Symmetrix arrays.
For the most up-to-date array support information, see the appropriate hardware
compatibility list (HCL) on the VERITAS Technical Support Web page at:
http://support.veritas.com
If you want to use storage array information accessible through VAIL providers, install
VAIL and perform any required configuration for the storage arrays and VAIL providers.
To use deep mapping services and performance statistics for supported storage arrays,
install both VAIL and VERITAS Mapping Services (VxMS).
You must install required third-party array CLIs and APIs on the host where you are
going to install VAIL. If you install any required CLI or API after installing VAIL, rescan
the arrays to enable SFRAC to discover them. For details on supported array models, see
the VERITAS Array Integration Layer Array Configuration Guide.
