HP Serviceguard Storage Management Suite Version A.04.01.01 for HP-UX 11i v3 Release Notes

1
The T2772xx bundle is no longer available, starting with the SG SMS version A.02.01 release. Use the T2774CB or
T2774DB bundle instead.
2
The T2776xx bundle is no longer available as a "stand-alone" bundle starting with the SG SMS version A.02.01 release,
except when it is included as a component of the T8686xx HA-OE bundle, or the T8696xx DC-OE bundle. Use the
T2777CB or T2777DB bundle instead.
3
Within a bundle family, you can upgrade any of the MC-OE bundle versions to the DC-OE bundle for HP-UX 11i v3,
without removing the MC-OE bundle.
4
This is the initial release for the HA-OE bundles.
5
This is the initial release for the DC-OE bundles.
NOTE:
If you are upgrading from any SG SMS version before A.02.01 or A.02.01.01 to A.03.01
or later, only offline upgrade is supported.
If a newly installed bundle includes the same version of a product that was previously installed
and patched, the patches may need to be installed again.
If there is a cluster configured on a node, the swremove command will not let you remove
SG SMS from that node. You must halt the node, remove the node from the cluster, and then
use swremove to remove SG SMS.
The procedure for rolling or offline upgrades of SG SMS HA-OE or DC-OE bundles requires
additional steps. See “HP-UX Operating Environment Upgrade Limitations (page 49) for more
information.
Rolling Upgrade of Serviceguard SMS
Serviceguard SMS has introduced support for rolling upgrade starting from Serviceguard SMS
version A.04.xx to future releases and patches. Rolling upgrade enables you to upgrade
Serviceguard SMS on your cluster nodes without having to bring down the cluster. You can do this
by upgrading one node at a time, while that node’s applications are running on an alternate node.
Before You Start
Ensure that Serviceguard CFS version A.11.20 PHSS_43698 and PHSS_43620 patches are
installed on all the cluster nodes.
All nodes must have Symantec CVM or CFS 5.1SP1and later installed.
SG-CFS-pkg must be up and running.
Rolling Upgrade Procedure
To perform rolling upgrade:
1. Run the following command on any one of the nodes in the cluster:
# cfsruutil start
2. Halt the node you want to upgrade. You can do this in Serviceguard Manager, or use the
following command:
# cmhaltnode -f
This results in the node's packages to start up on an adaptive node.
3. Edit /etc/rc.config.d/cmcluster to include the following line:
AUTOSTART_CMCLD = 0
This will keep the upgraded node from automatically rejoining the cluster when it reboots.
4. Upgrade the node to the new patch or SMS bundle.
5. Edit /etc/rc.config.d/cmcluster to include the following line:
AUTOSTART_CMCLD = 1
